Our approach to ingredients

Mum & Co products are made in small batches using a combination of carefully selected base ingredients, essential oils, fragrance oils, botanicals, and colourants where appropriate.

Every ingredient is chosen for its function, safety, and suitability within the product it’s used in — not for trend or novelty.

We prioritise:

ingredients that are well understood

formulations appropriate for everyday use

compliance with UK and EU cosmetic regulations

Essential oils and fragrance oils

We use both essential oils and cosmetic-grade fragrance oils across our range.

Essential oils are plant-derived extracts, used where appropriate for their scent and character

Fragrance oils are carefully formulated blends, used to achieve specific scent profiles not possible with essential oils alone

All fragrance materials used by Mum & Co:

comply with current IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards

are used within safe usage limits for the product type

are supported by safety documentation

Cosmetic compliance

All cosmetic products are:

assessed for safety

formulated in line with UK Cosmetic Regulations

registered where required

Ingredients are listed on individual product pages using INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) names, as required by law.

Natural variation

Because our products are handmade, natural variations may occur between batches. This can include differences in:

colour

texture

pattern

scent strength

These variations are normal and do not affect product safety or performance.

Allergies and sensitivities

If you have allergies, sensitivities, or are unsure whether a product is suitable for you, please review the ingredient list carefully before purchasing.

If irritation occurs:

discontinue use immediately

rinse the affected area with clean water

Botanicals, clays, and colourants

Some products may contain natural botanicals, clays, or cosmetic-grade colourants.

Botanicals are used decoratively or for gentle functional purposes

Clays and colourants are approved for cosmetic use

Natural ingredients may cause slight discolouration over time.

Home fragrance safety

For wax melts, diffusers, and simmer pots:

always follow usage instructions

never leave heat sources unattended

keep away from children and pets

use only as intended
